Life at JLR blog
With real-world experience, funded education and dedicated support, a JLR Apprenticeship provides a strong foundation for a rewarding future.
JLR apprenticeships combine paid employment with education, helping apprentices gain practical industry experience and nationally recognised qualifications while contributing to projects shaping the cars of tomorrow. Learning is shared between the workplace and a college, university or training provider. Depending on the programme, this may include block teaching, day release, online study and independent learning. Study timetables vary, with some advanced apprentices spending most of their first year with a training provider.
JLR fully funds apprenticeship training and associated qualifications. Apprentices receive a competitive salary and employee benefits, including a pension, discounts and wellbeing support. Alongside technical knowledge, apprentices develop communication, organisation, self-management and teamwork skills. The JLR Learning Academy also encourages continued learning and development.
Throughout their programme, apprentices receive guidance from their line manager, training provider and Early Careers team. Dedicated Cohort Leaders are the first point of contact for feedback or concerns. To complete their apprenticeship, apprentices undertake an End Point Assessment to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours they have developed, with preparation supported by their training provider and JLR.
