Life at JLR blog

A huge part of Tina’s time at JLR has been dedicated to sharing and celebrating her culture with others.

Hear from Tina, currently Transformation Manager in the Overseas Region. Being able to share and celebrate her culture enables her to connect with colleagues on a deeper level. Read more from Tina below.

Q: Tell us about your journey at JLR.

I began my journey with JLR in 2013 as a Process Improvement Specialist in the Global Supply Chain department. This role gave me the opportunity to work on a range of strategic projects, which helped me develop my skills and grow professionally. In 2022, I transitioned to the People Chapter, where I discovered a passion for creating ‘People’ content to promote our Employer Brand. Most recently, in late 2023, I took on a new challenge as a Transformation Manager in the Overseas Region, where I focus on driving the Reimagine strategy and leading key transformational initiatives.

Q: Why is DE&I important at work?

It is important to recognise and celebrate people of Asia Pacific backgrounds (or any other backgrounds) at JLR because it fosters a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion, which is quite frankly very basic for any global organisation. Highlighting the unique perspectives and contributions of our colleagues from diverse backgrounds, it makes everyone feel seen and valued. Celebrating cultural diversity connects people on a deeper level and it strengthens our global mindset as employees, and it certainly makes our workplace more vibrant. On a personal note, being part of the REACH Network has been incredibly special to me. It has given me the chance to promote and celebrate Chinese culture and heritage within JLR. Sharing my traditions and seeing others take an interest has been incredibly rewarding. It is about connecting with others and feeling proud of where I come from.

Q: What’s next in your career for you?

Looking ahead, my career goals are centred around becoming a transformative leader at JLR. I see three key paths for my future here:

  • Driving Positive Change: I want to lead teams that implement meaningful, sustainable changes within the organisation, nurturing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Mentoring and Developing Talent: I aspire to be a leader who invests in the growth of my team members, helping them realise their full potential. I aim to promote, develop, and retain top talent by creating an environment where everyone feels supported and motivated on their career paths.
  • Advocating for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: I want to be a strong advocate in this space, ensuring that all voices are heard and that our workplace truly aligns with JLR’s vision of DE&I.
