Q: How have you found your first few months with JLR?

My first few months at JLR have been thoroughly rewarding and exciting. From day one, I’ve felt a strong sense of community and belonging in the company. The onboarding process was smooth, and I enjoyed the various induction events the company held. I have settled into the inverter D&R team, and everyone has been welcoming and approachable. There is a good balance between guidance and independence, and I’ve been allowed to explore different parts of the team so I can find where I enjoy working most. It’s been an environment where I can grow not only technically, but professionally as well.

The company culture at JLR stands out for its emphasis on diversity and inclusion. There has been various events ran by different employee networks which have gave me opportunities to learn about different cultures. There is a constant focus on ensuring everyone feels valued and heard and I love how JLR supports personal development as well as professional development.

Q: Tell us about the Early Careers community / social element.

One of the highlights of being part of JLR’s early careers program is being a part of the large community of young people employed by the company. Its great to network and meet like minded people who are all starting out their careers. The Young Professional Network run a wide variety of events, with weekly clubs as well as large events.

I have been attending the five a side football club, which has not only been a fun way to keep fit, but a great way to bond with colleagues outside of work. Some other popular clubs include badminton, karting and bouldering. In August I attended the JLR summer ball which was an incredible evening of celebration, and it really showed how JLR values bringing employees together to celebrate their hard work. Looking ahead, I am excited to go on the annual ski trip in March which will be a great opportunity to make some memories with some of the new friends I have made here.

I’m also keen to build my professional network and develop soft skills like communication. I want to not only Improve my technical knowledge, but also grow in confidence when collaborating with different teams and individuals.
