Manufacturing

Manufacturing is at the very heart of our Industrial Operations chapter, with thousands of vehicles being produced every day across our production facilities. Apprentices will join one of the following teams across industrial ops including Global Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing or Supplier Technical Assistance (STA), Battery Assembly Centre (BAC) or our Halewood plant team.

The GME team support the projects and innovations that enable our Reimagine strategy across our global locations. You will be working with stakeholders across our enterprise, including product engineering, procurement and manufacturing operations to implement new products, processes and equipment.

The STA team within our procurement chapter are responsible for supplier quality throughout our vehicle portfolio, interacting with every part that goes into our cars and ensuring we deliver excellence. You’ll start within our manufacturing plants where work closely with our supplier base focusing on projects to improve part quality.

What You'll Need

GCSE Maths and English Language at level 5 or higher, and three further GCSEs level 5 (C) or above to include one STEM subject or Engineering Vocational qualification level 3/ 90 credits/540 GLH or higher.

In addition, A level Maths at grade B or higher and a second A level at grade C or above in Physics, Chemistry, Engineering or Design & Technology.

ONLINE TESTING

If you progress to the next stage we’ll ask you to complete a series of short online tests which you will complete independently. Passing this stage is based on your scores from completing your online assessments. Don’t forget to use the practice area to help you prepare. Click here to enter the practice test area.

ONLINE ASSESSMENT CENTRE

The next stage is the virtual assessment centre. This consists of a presentation exercise and behavioural interview. You’ll be provided with a preparation guide to help you at this final stage.

OFFER

We’ll share the outcome of your assessment centre within 2 weeks of you completing it. If you are successful, we’ll make you a verbal offer and confirm this in writing via email.

WHAT TO EXPECT

INTRODUCTION

You’ll start with your corporate and local inductions into JLR in September 2025. Then, you’ll receive an overview of our business and future strategic direction, network with other joiners and key stakeholders, including our DI networks, and experience our exciting work environment. 

You’ll also have an induction at the University of Warwick to learn more about your degree programmes and timetable of study.

Your Degree Programme

As well as working in key teams within our teams at JLR, you will study for a BEng (Hons) Applied Professional Engineering Programme with the prestigious University of Warwick (Warwick Manufacturing Group). 

Throughout the first three years of your apprenticeship, you will study core modules delivered through a combination of block teaching weeks, online study and independent learning. In the fourth year of your apprenticeship, you will complete a work-based project which will form part of your end point assessment (EPA). You will be able to apply the learning you acquire through your studies directly to your role at JLR. Throughout your time on the programme, you will be supported by the Apprenticeship Delivery team, university staff and your line manager.

COMPLETING YOUR APPRENTICESHIP

During the final months of your apprenticeship, you will undertake an End Point Assessment (EPA) which is aligned to your apprenticeship standard. The EPA is an independent assessment of the knowledge, skills and behaviours that you have developed throughout your time on the apprenticeship.
